From August 28th to September 3rd 2022, we will do the Camino de Santiago as a group hiking trip. It will be an excellent opportunity for philosophical and spiritual connection, physical and mental challenge and the adventure of getting to know new people.
There are many paths that lead to Santiago. Four our trip we have chosen the Portuguese Camino from Tui (Galicia, Spain) to Santiago de Compostela. It is one of the pathways with more green areas and the one that crosses the most forests. If you are a nature lover, this is undoubtedly your ideal route.
From Tui we will do the last 119km together until we reach Santiago de Compostela. It is an easy path, without great heights or complicated steep hills. However, physical and mental preparation are essential for this activity; for this reason we have hired the services of a physical trainer, Paulo, who was our online trainer for the Camino last year. This year he will accompany us again to get ready for the challenge.
Every day, we will do small readings and, during the Camino, we will do short stops to meditate and reflect as a group on a daily basis. The activities will serve as an introduction to Stoic philosophy of life, thought and daily practice.
At the end of the Camino we will get the Compostela, a document that certifies having walked any of the Jacobean Routes for at least 100km.
The Camino de Santiago has been, and continues to be, without a doubt, the oldest and most celebrated route in Europe. Don’t miss this unique group experience!
The mental preparation includes a series of preparatory readings and exercises for the topics that we will address during the Path, through the Manual of daily thematic readings of the Stoic Week, which are ideal for absorbing the central ideas and practice of Stoic philosophy.
During the week of the Camino we will delve into the Stoic perspective and the implementation of the following topics:
Day 1: Progress
Day 2: Happiness
Day 3: Virtue
Day 4: Community
Day 5: Emotions
Day 6: Resilience
Closing Session: Nature
In summary, the trip includes:
- 6 nights of accommodation (private hostels)
- Physical training and group mental preparation prior to the trip
- Handbook with short daily Stoic readings (materials for reflection)
- Group dynamics of philosophical reflection during the Camino
- 24 hour accompanying monitor
- Group travel insurance
- Backpack tranfer during the stages
- Pilgrim’s Credential
- Gift: pilgrim’s bracelet and t-shirt
Note: Physical training included in the price.
IMPORTANT: It’s necessary to do physical training and strengthen your joints before the Camino. If you are interested in doing the Camino with the Stoa, write an email to formacion@stoamadrid.es and we’ll put you in touch with our trainer for evaluation.
